Fight Aches & Pains with Topical CBD
The aches and pains from constant wear and tear on the body can make it difficult to perform and improve consistently. This is why many athletes are turning to CBD Oil to aid their recovery and keep them performing at their best.
In recent years the UFC, NHL and NFL have all been involved with studies to test the link between athletes’ recovery and CBD, with the UFC in 2019 participating in a multiphase clinical study on CBD’s effects on pain relief in their famously high impact sport. The league has announced that the study will be used to develop a line of hemp-derived topical treatments.
“When you think about this, the amount of money that’s going to go into the testing and the research of this deal is going to affect our athletes, then it’s going to spill into the NFL, the NBA, and soccer,” said UFC president Dana White.
How does Topical CBD Work?
When CBD oil is applied directly to the skin, it doesn’t enter the bloodstream but can be absorbed through the skin's surface to interact with nearby cannabinoid receptors, meaning that it really targets just the area where you apply it. The emphasis of CBD is on the CB2 receptors, which are not psychoactive.
Uses for Topical Applications
There are a number of topical creams, gels and salves on the market. These are not only for athletes, but anyone suffering from wear and tear on the body. Some typical uses include:
- Tension
- Imflammation
- Localized pain relief
- Muscle soreness.
